THTR 351 Dramaturgy Practicum

This course is an experiential learning opportunity that builds on the work students undertake in Theatre History I & II, as well as other theatre history and dramatic literature courses. It offers students the opportunity to use the research skills they have developed in Theatre History I and II, and other shared curriculum courses, and to apply them to a MMC Theatre department production, thereby practicing the skills of professional dramaturgy with faculty mentoring. It will help students refine the writing, visual storytelling, research, presentation, communication, time management, and analytical skills necessary for future dramaturgical work in the professional theatre, while also helping them understand the wide range of activities in which professional dramaturgs participate. The course can be repeated with different topic. Designated for Majors only.
