This course explores the techniques unique to musical theatre and emphasizes the expression of a dramatic situation through song interpretation, character and movement. Students explore solo song material drawn from musical theatre from the 20th Century, working with faculty to select material that they can personalize in order to support their artistic development. Close readings of scripts and character analysis are a component of the course which require outside reading and research.
