THTR 350 Advanced Technical Projects

Course Description:  This course explores the process of creative problem solving required at every level of technical production in the theater. Through a series of individual and group projects, students will develop an understanding of the application of inductive and deductive reasoning skills necessary to achieve self-generated artistic goals that seem to lack a conventional solution. In doing so, each student will examine and develop their problem solving skill by using the scientific method to create and test hypotheses based on observation, research and experimentation. They will examine case studies of historical solutions to similar problems.  Beginning with the basic materials, the students will apply their acquired knowledge to categories of technical problems of increasing difficulty.  The primary focus of these projects will be upon developing, testing, and reporting on the problem solving process. Additional lab fee applies.
