2019-2020 Catalog

THTR 312 Cabaret Performance

Students will learn the art form of Cabaret performance. Attention will be paid to song selection, interpretation, arrangements and patter. Students will work toward presenting material of their choosing as well as assigned songs in an honest personal way. The process is one of singing as oneself, and not a character. Students will learn how their personal and current life stories can
be incorporated and shown through song. The class will also encourage students to think outside the box in their song choices and storytelling. Students will be encouraged to explore a variety of song genres and styles. There will also be time spent on learning the technical aspects of using a microphone and monitor. The class will culminate in a show in a reputable New York Cabaret. Additional lab fee applies. By audition.
