THTR 358 Sound Design for the Theatre

The aesthetics and practices of sound design will be studied with an emphasis on script breakdown and analysis, cultural perspectives, imaginative and analytical underpinnings of the design process, and aesthetic values. Lab work and design projects will develop the process of sound cue creation, the establishing of mood, emotion and environment through sound, and critical listening. Students will develop critical thinking skills through the research and study of the historical use of sound in theatre.  Students will also be introduced to the basics of tools and technology used to implement theatre sound design. Open to non-majors by permission of the Instructor. Additional lab fee applies.
