THTR 333 Advanced Costume Construction

This course offers students the skills and knowledge of period construction techniques necessary to create patterns for period clothing. The student will develop a proficiency in researching and identifying costume construction details, such as the silhouette, fabric, seam joinery and embellishments that constitute a period garment through assigned texts and museum visits. The student will acquire, demonstrate and synthesize the advanced flat patterning, draping, hand and machine stitching techniques and with the research to create a complete period garment. Additional lab fee applies.
