Name on Diploma
MMC issues diploma under the student’s legal name or the name as it appears on the student’s academic record. Nicknames or variations from the student’s legal name will not be published on the diploma. Students who need to update their legal name with the College may submit an “Official Change of Name” form, including a copy of a marriage license, divorce decree, court papers, copy of certificate of naturalization, or similar documentation. Students who have officially filed a Preferred Name Change (First Name Only)form may request to have their preferred name* printed of the diploma. They should contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar@mmm.edu to obtain a “Diploma Name Request Form”.
*Graduates who opt to have their preferred name listed on the diploma will need to acknowledge that their diploma name will not match official MMC records/documents such as their academic transcript, financial aid / loan documents, and other federal/state records (e.g. 1098-T, W-4, etc). Future education verification requests from employers or other third party agents/institutions, who only lists the diploma name and not another student identifier (e.g. MMC student identification number - 1234567), may be impacted. MMC will not be held responsible if a match or verification cannot be made.
