THTR 352-353 Acting III: Language and Style

This course provides an environment in which the student can deepen theoretical understandings of acting technique and refine technical skills. Emphasis is placed on the delivery of the text and how the actor’s body can communicate the world of the play. Material will be taken from plays composed with heightened language and style that goes beyond contemporary naturalism. Playwrights may include Chekhov, Ibsen, Strindberg, Coward, Wilde, Shaw, Churchill, Stoppard, and others. Emphasis is placed on individual student research and several writing assignments will be required. Open to BFA Acting majors only. Additional lab fee applies.
