THTR 466 Costume Construction III: Patternmaking for Costume Design

This course offers students the skills and knowledge of period construction techniques necessary to create patterns for period clothing. Students will develop a proficiency in researching and identifying costume construction details, such as the silhouette, fabric, seam joinery and embellishments that constitute a period garment through assigned texts and museum visits. Students will acquire, demonstrate, and synthesize techniques for advanced flat patterning, draping, and hand and machine stitching, as well as research skills to create a complete period garment. Additional lab fee applies.
