DANC 315 Embodied Africanist Aesthetics III
Embodied Africanist Aesthetics III is a practice-based class that explores a variety of Black dance practices through technique, choreography, and performance. This studio course explores dance forms stemming from the rich diversity of African Diasporic Dance, the influence of Africanist Aesthetics in American vernacular dance styles, and the power of contemporary street and social dance techniques. Students will experience Black dance forms, which have a long history of resistance and radical thought, through readings, written assignments, daily movement practice, performance, and portfolio building.
This course may be repeated up to 12 credits. Additional lab fee applies.
