MMC provides academic and housing accommodations for students with documented learning, physical, and/or psychological disabilities. Students who wish to pursue accommodations must contact the Office of Disability Services to submit their request before the start of the semester or after a qualifying event. To ensure that the academic accommodation process is complete when classes begin, students are encouraged to submit their request no later than August 1 for the fall semester and no later than January 1 for the spring semester. To obtain housing accommodations, students must submit a request to the Office of Disability Services no later than June 1 for fall semester housing, no later than May 1 for summer housing, and no later than January 1 for spring semester housing. Housing accommodation requests that arrive after these dates are subject to availability at the time of the request.

To learn more about submitting an accommodation request, please email disabilityservices@mmm.edu. After reviewing requests, evaluating documentation, and determining eligibility, the Office of Disability Services will provide approved accommodations, resources, or services to eligible students. Examples of accommodations for which students might be eligible include:

  • Peer notetakers
  • Extended time on timed exams and timed quizzes, separate space for testing, and virtual proctoring for online courses
  • Wheelchair access
  • Assistive technology
  • Alternative format for uploaded course content
  • Permission to use a laptop computer in class to take notes
  • Housing accommodations
  • Registration of emotional support animals and service animals
  • Modification of Dining Dollars

Academic Access Program

The Academic Access Program is a cost-above tuition program that is specifically designed to foster academic success for students with documented learning disabilities. Through multifaceted academic support, students with learning-style differences will have the opportunity to manage the MMC curriculum along with their peers and classmates. The program provides participating students with tutoring services, counseling, advisement, and priority registration. Interested students should contact the program at disabilityservices@mmm.edu.
