COMM 314 Persuasion

This course will introduce students to basic theories about how persuasive messages are created and used to maintain or effect change in people’s beliefs, values, attitudes and behavior. The course will empower students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in creating persuasive messages that are vital within a democratic system and a competitive market economy. Topics covered include traditional and humanistic approaches to persuasion, social scientific approaches to persuasion, psychological, logical and cultural premises in persuasion, media and technology in persuasion and creating persuasive messages in various contexts.
