ART 232 3-D Practices: Material, Form and Process

This course is an introduction to the fundamental issues, methods, and basic practices in the study of sculpture. Students explore the materials and techniques of construction in wood, clay, plaster, paper, cardboard, and experimental media. Concepts of space, form, mass, size, scale, and time are investigated as they relate to the built or natural environment. Private and public art are addressed in readings, discussions, image presentations, and visits to museums, galleries, and public spaces in the city. Additional lab fee applies. (DS1)
