THTR 203 Voice & Speech for the Actor II

In this course, students build on the skills and practices taught in THTR 202 on more advanced exercises. The students will expand their knowledge and practice of IPA and relationship with their authentic voice on both original and scripted texts. Through research and practice, the students will better understand their own idiolect and recognize the various possibilities for pronunciation of spoken English. Students will explore the basics of characterization through breath, tone, range, and muscular activity of the articulators and discover how the orchestration of text relates to character, given circumstances, tactics, and intention. Additional lab fee applies.
