ART 215 Illustration

Illustration is a visual language that enhances and communicates content. This analog course explores the fundamentals of composition, color and use of drawing and painting media. Students apply a method for solving problems beginning with research and thumbnail sketches, evolving into the finished illustration. In weekly critiques, lectures and demonstrations, students analyze illustration as it relates to historical and contemporary cultural precedents. Projects encourage students to develop a personal style that communicates specific content and addresses a targeted demographic.
