PHR 336 Playing Politics
This course consists of elaborate games, set in moments of particular political contestation, ferment, and signficance, in which students are assigned roles informed by classic texts of political and social theory. Games take place over several weeks, with most class sessions run entirely by students working in teams (usually) or alone (sometimes). The instructor advises and guides students and grades their oral and written work. The games seek to promote engagement with big ideas and improve intellectual and academic skills. Students may consult the instructor to find out which games will be played in a given semester.
