EWL 210 History of the English Language

In this course, students will study the major periods of transition in the English language, from its origins as an Indo-European language through its many transformations as Anglo-Saxon, Middle, Early Modern, and Present Day English. Students will also study and discuss changes of the English language stemming from political, cultural, colonial, geographic, and technological events.
