ART 260 Sophomore Art History Seminar
As a continuation of an intensive program of study for the Major or Minor in Art History, this sophomore-level course will work through various historiographic and theoretical methodological approaches to the history of art through selected texts of the field by such authors as Hegel, Wölfflin, Ruskin, Riegl, Panofsky, Gombrich, Schapiro, Baxandall, and Nochlin. It will encompass multiple topics and critical analyses and culminate in research papers, oral presentations, exhibition critiques, and catalogue entries. By special permission, students majoring in other disciplines may enroll.
