ART 119 Digital Design: Tools and Practices
This course is an introduction to the digital tools and practices used in Graphic Design and Illustration. Students explore basic and advanced fundamentals of vector shapes, imagery, type, color theory, and page layout within the Adobe software suite. Students use Adobe Illustrator (vector graphics), Adobe Photoshop (raster/pixel graphics), and Adobe InDesign (page layout); as well as hand-skills for cutting, drawing, and tracing. Lectures will introduce students to a brief historical overview of graphic design and the art movements that helped mold the field. Class discussions and demonstrations will introduce students to design terminology, process, research, and craft. Additional lab fee applies. (DS1)
