AIP 348 Perspectives on the Holocaust and Genocide (IP)
This course would be an interdisciplinary study of genocides that occurred in the 20th and 21st centuries. The course will focus primarily on the Holocaust but will also include study of other modern genocides (e.g. Rwanda, Burundi, Kosovo). The course will include an examination of the political, economic, and social dynamics that occurred prior to and during the genocides, focusing on racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, poverty, war and social upheaval. Students will learn how various countries reacted and/or contributed to acts of genocide by either collaborating, ignoring or making attempts to rescue the victims. Social psychological theories and research on obedience and conformity will be a central part of the course.

WRIT 201 ; any 100-level course in Psychology, Sociology, or Political Science
