Minor: Media Production, 15 Credits
Our media production minor allows students to acquire skills in the creation of media to support their major. The program works particularly well for students who already understand media fundamentals of form and style, taught in courses such as Introduction to Cinema Studies. The main areas of emphasis for the minor are video, sound, and emerging media, and the curricular offerings range from video field production, sound design, television studio production, and screenplay writing. All students in the minor learn basic skills in media storytelling using sound, image, and online publishing. Students then choose elective options for media that interest them the most. This minor appeals to students looking for new ways to express their creativity. It is recommended that students work with a faculty advisor in their major as well as faculty in Communication and Media Arts to find the best synergy between their major program of study and the creative possibilities of media production.
