PHYS 206 Introductory Astronomy

This is a survey course in astronomy and space exploration. Starting with a brief discussion of the significant historical events that shaped the ideas of modern astronomy, the course will examine the solar system, stars, pulsars, black holes and galaxies, the theories on the birth and death of stars, and the current thinking on the theories of cosmology. Demonstrations and audiovisuals are used to illustrate and explain some of the scientific principles underlying the discipline.
