PBH 315 Health Promotion and Communication

This course will introduce students to the field of health communication, and will provide a broad overview and exploration of health communication research, theory, and practice. Students will examine the powerful influence of communication on the promotion of health and delivery of care in a variety of contexts. Topics of study will include social support, provider-patient communication, patient disclosure and compliance, media and health policy, media effects on health behavior, and public health campaigns. Students will also gain valuable insight into the theoretical and practical aspects of health campaign planning, implementation, and evaluation.
