PBH 310 Biological Basis of Public Health

This course provides a foundation of biology concepts to understand the biological mechanisms of disease prevention and progression and their impact on public health. The course consists of six units or modules, which provide an overview of basic biological concepts, molecular biology and chronic and infectious diseases. We will focus mainly on diseases and conditions that are most frequently discussed in current public health settings, including infectious diseases, genetic illnesses, cancer, environmental illnesses, and vaccines.
