This course presents a broad perspective on the mechanism of drugs on the brain. As a general information class it benefits students from any major. Some background material covered in the course applies to any type of drug (like dose, route of administration and side effects). The main focus of the course is however to understand the relationship between drugs, the mechanism of action and the resultant behavior.  An introduction to the chemistry of the brain will be presented, followed by an overview of the many categories of psychoactive drugs.
