HIST 220 Modern Europe

This course surveys European history from the era of the French Revolution to the end of World War II. It examines the impact of the French and Industrial Revolution on 19th century European politics, society and culture; state construction and imperialism; and the catastrophic wars, political extremism, ethnic cleansing and genocide of the 20th century.
