THTR 465 Advanced Studies in Drama & Theatre

This capstone course provides the advanced theatre student the opportunity for in-depth exploration of a particular topic and combines study of dramatic literature with theatre and performance history. Students will acquire advanced research skills and utilize a variety of New York City resources including specialized library and museum collections. Different topics will be offered each semester and previous topics include: Japanese Theatre, Ancient Greek Drama in Performance: Euripides’ Bacchae; Staging Difference: Theatre, Performance and Identity; Asian American Theatre; NYC Experimental Performance, 1950-Present; Modern European Drama; Topics in Feminist Theatre; Russian Drama & Theatre; Latinx Drama & Theatre; Actor, Role, Celebrity, and the Haunted Body on the Musical Stage; Irish Drama & Theatre; and Contemporary US Drama. May be repeated for up to 9 credits.
