Commencement and Graduation

Commencement - Students who either completed (February graduates) or will be completing all their degree requirements by the end of the Spring term may participate in the Commencement Ceremony.  Students must submit an online graduation application before they can participate in Commencement.  Under certain conditions, graduating candidates who have no more than 6 credits remaining can apply to participate in the commencement ceremony .  See "Request to Participate in May Commencement" section.  The ceremony is an opportunity for students, family, friends, and the entire MMC community to recognize and celebrate our graduates. However, participation in this ceremony does not guarantee degree completion.

Graduation is the process of awarding a degree. Graduation involves:

  1. filing the online graduation application form on MMC Connect;
  2. certifying all final grades are completed;
  3. completing ALL degree requirements, and
  4. satisfying all financial obligations to the College.

To officially graduate from MMC, students must fulfill all degree requirements (including General Education, Program Major(s), concentration(s), minor(s), and college requirements). The official graduation date is not the College’s commencement date. A student’s official graduation date is based upon when a student files the graduation application and when the student completes all degree requirements (See “Degree Conferral Date”).
