COMM 210 Urban Interventions and Public Space (SJS)

This course introduces students to the history, theory, and practice of site-specific creative interventions in the city. Students will examine the history of urban public intervention, from the French Situationists to present day tactical urbanism, alongside critical histories about diversity and equity in New York City’s public spaces. Students will design and enact their own urban interventions to generate dialogue about the culture of public spaces in the city and to imagine radically inclusive futures.
