SOC 303 Contemporary Social Theory
Contemporary Social Theory explores developments in social theory since the early days of the 20th century to the present in the United States and abroad. While familiarizing the student with the works of those theorists whose contributions have preeminently shaped the field of social criticism, special attention will be devoted to those preoccupations typical of this period including but not limited to the relationship between individual agency and social structures, consensus and conflict in modern societies, social change, intersectional analyses of gender/race/class and nation, and the relationship between private and public life.
