EWL 120 Themes in World Literature: Literary NYC
In this course, students will explore how a common the theme of New York City has been interpreted by authors, artists, and filmmakers across genres, cultures, and eras. In doing so, they will come to understand the value of literature and film as vehicles for creating connections among peoples across the geographic divides, socioeconomic classes, and intersectional identity categories. At the same time, students will strengthen the essential skills of reading, analyzing, interpreting, and writing about literature and film. All works will be read in English with the option to read foreign language texts in the original versions.
