BIOL 335 Developmental Neurobiology
This course explores the development of the nervous system. It introduces scientific methods and techniques used to investigate developmental neurobiology, including the study of animal models. It also explores the molecular and chemical signals involved in the differentiation of the neuronal phenotypes. Students will investigate the mechanisms by which the nervous system integrates environmental cues and internal signals, as well as the consequences of these events on neuronal plasticity. Students will examine experimental scenarios and primary literature. The course explains the evolution and development of the central nervous system in invertebrates and vertebrates and the foundations of animal behavior. Three-hour lecture.
