SPCH 209 American Sign Language: I

Students are taught fundamental principles of ASL grammar and syntax with the emphasis on signed language, although aspects of deaf culture and history will be covered. Emphasis is placed on finger-spelling, basic sentence structure, tenses, time, negatives and sentence types. Many aspects of deaf culture will be touched upon and students are encouraged to investigate deaf actors, artists and writers.
