PSYCH 411 History and Systems

The goal of this course is to provide a broad overview of psychology and its evolution from the parent disciplines of philosophy and medicine. The development of the major systems in psychology (including associationism, structuralism, functionalism, behaviorism, gestalt and psychoanalysis) will be traced from the origins through the present. The major historical developments, experiments, and significant research will be studied. This course is highly recommended for students planning graduate work in psychology.
