MUS 208 The Business of Music 

This course provides students with an overview of the music industry in the U.S. and the artistic, technological, economic, and social developments that shape it. Key topics include entrepreneurship, music production, sync licensing, publishing, distribution, marketing and promotion; copyright and legal issues; the recording industry; the use of music in radio, film, TV, online and live performance. Through discussions, readings, listening, and videos, students will acquire an understanding of the interrelationship of music creation and business practices.
