MUS 208 The Business of Music 

This course provides students with an overview of the music industry in the US and the artistic, technological, economic and social developments that shape it. Key topics include music production, distribution, marketing and promotion; copyright and legal issues; the recording industry; the use of music in radio, film, TV, online and live performance. Through discussions, readings, listening, and projects, students will acquire an understanding of the interrelationship of music creation and business practices. Students will engage with aspects of the music industry in NYC for projects and assignments.
