IS 112 Globalizations of Past and Present

This course is an introduction to the ideas, theories and practices of globalizations past and present.  We will examine ancient, modern and contemporary globalizations from critical perspectives to understand the social, technological and economic forces at play in human expansion, conflict and interconnection. We conclude by analyzing issues such as immigration, climate change and human rights in an era of new forms of global relationships and a simultaneous assertion of borders.
