DANC 210 African Dance for Non-Majors

African Dance is an introduction to the technique and history of djembe-style West African dance from the Mandingo Empire. Through movement, video observation and historical study, the goal of this course is to guide students in understanding the rich and diverse genre of West African dance and its function in the society from which it originated. May be combined with a 2nd Non-Major (2) credit class to be accepted as a Gen Ed DS1. Additional lab fee applies.
