SPCH 316 Psycholinguistics
The study of human language provides a unique way to understand human nature and to engage in cognitive science. Psycholinguistics, an interdisciplinary sub-discipline of psychology and linguistics, is the study of the mental processes and types of knowledge involved in understanding and producing language in both its oral and written forms. Students study listening, speaking, reading, and writing, trying to discover the cognitive mechanisms and knowledge structures that underlie these skills and the roles they play in linguistic behavior.
