PS 360 The American Presidency and the Electorate

This course explores the nature of presidential power. It examines the historical, political and economic factors that transformed the office of the presidency in the nineteenth century into the most powerful branch of government in contemporary America. Some of the topics analyzed are the constitutional origins of the presidency, the institutional aspects of the office, the relationship among the three branches, and the role of mass media in expanding the reach of the presidency.
