ART 410 Advanced Studio Production

This course provides an opportunity for the upper level studio art student to develop an independent body of work. Every step of the production process, from initial conception to execution, exhibition and post-production analysis, is examined in the context of historical and contemporary artistic practices. An emphasis is placed on attaining clarity of intention through conceptual, material and theoretical investigation. The mediums and techniques are based on the parameters of individual projects and may include traditional, experimental or cross-disciplinary approaches to visual art production. Image based lectures, critiques, readings, discussions, written assignments, oral presentations and visits to current exhibitions are integral components of the course. This course may be repeated for an additional 3 credits.
